Finance your workshop by company
Companies have budgets for training their developers. Sometimes this budget is clearly defined, and departments are eager to spend it, sometimes it is less announced, and companies might make it harder to use it. Nevertheless, the purpose of this guide is to provide simple, but universal steps on how to get your training financed by your employer.
Kotlin Training Options
At Kt. Academy, we offer two ways to participate in our Kotlin training, designed to meet the diverse needs of developers and organizations:
- Open Workshops: Perfect for individual developers or small teams, these workshops cover a broad range of topics to enhance your Kotlin skills.
- Exclusive Corporate Training: Tailored sessions specifically designed for your company’s unique requirements, ensuring your team gains the most relevant and practical knowledge.
You can find currently planned open workshops on our main page. If you want to attend a workshop that does not appear there, fill out the form, and once we have enough interested developers, we will organize it.
If you need training for a small group of people, but your company won't finance exclusive corporate training, we will organize an open workshop of your choice, in the time that suits you best. To do that write us an email (contact@kt.academy) or fill out a form (any form of the workshop of your choice, just mention group size).
Step-By-Step Guide
Now, how can you get your workshop financed? The story always starts with contacting the person in charge, which is typically your manager or a Scrum Master. Well... the same person you would contact if you needed a new computer or an acceptance for a business trip. In most cases, that person drives the topic forward, in other situations they should tell you what the next steps are in your company. So the first step is...
Step 1. Notify Person in Charge
Start by informing the person in charge of training approvals in your company about your interest in the Kotlin training course. A quick note or chat message can set the stage for a more detailed conversation. Here's a template you can use:
Subject: Request for Kotlin Training
Hey [Person in Charge Name],
I came across a Kotlin training program that seems highly beneficial for our projects. May I share more details with you?
Best regards, [Your Name]
Step 2. Share More Details
Hopefully the person in charge will respond to that. It might sometimes take a few days and require a nudge. Then you need to send workshop details and a short rationale.
For some reason, many companies prefer having a training offer in PDF, so download this file with our complete offer, and attach it to your email.
This is what an email with details might look like:
Subject: Request to Enroll in Kotlin Training
Dear [Person in Charge Name],
The workshop I mentioned is [Workshop Name]. This workshop provides advanced insights and practical techniques, addressing the challenges we’ve been facing. It is conducted by Marcin Moskała, who is a well-recognised Kotlin expert, and an official JetBrains partner for teaching Kotlin.
Here’s the link: [Course Link]
The workshop should help us deepen our understanding, and as a result, help us:
Write better-quality code
Avoid mistakes
Improve our performance
I could attend an open workshop, or we could organize a private workshop for our company.
Best regards, [Your Name]
Hopefully, that will be enough from your side. If you need some more support, go to the More help from Kt. Academy side below. If the person in charge will not respond, time for another email.
Step 3. Follow-up after a couple of days
If you don’t get a response, send a polite reminder:
Subject: RE: Request to Enroll in Kotlin Training
Dear [Person in Charge Name],
Did you get a chance to review the details of the Kotlin training I sent over? I truly believe it can help us overcome our current development challenges.
Here’s the link again: [Course Link]
Looking forward to your response.
Best regards, [Your Name]
If that is still not enough, you might need to have a chat with the person in charge, or ask a different person in your company for help.
More help from Kt. Academy side
There are at least a few ways we can help you:
- Ask for a meeting with the trainer—this way you'll meet the trainer who will help you decide which workshop to choose.
- If the amount is beyond your budget, ask for a discount, informing us about your situation and the amount you can afford.
- If you need other support, contact us, and we will do what we can.
Our email is contact@kt.academy.
Enjoy the Training!
By following these steps, you can increase the chances of getting your Kotlin training financed by your employer. If your employer needs more detailed information about the possibility of customization of the training, we will be glad to help you out. Drop us an email at contact@kt.academy and remember—we are here to help and assist you in choosing the best option for your development needs.
Good luck!
